Hi, I have an 11year old daughter, who at the age of 9 mths was diagnosed with OMA. She was not able to converge on objects, so she used her peripheral fields. I noticed it first, when she was a baby and she always looked from the side of her eyes in pictures and she was not reaching her milestones in development. She would also use head thrust to move her eyes from side to side. I got her into a wonderful school in Dallas (Dallas Services for the Visually Impaired). She had therapist for Vision, Orientation and Mobility, Speech, Physical and a special ed. teacher. She started the school at the age of 13 months (but they actually can be started from birth, if diagnosed early). I took her 3 days a week for 3 hours. They did a wonderful job. She loved going. She is now going to be in the 6th grade in a public school. She scored 96% (National Ranking) in both Math and Reading Test. She loves to read and would rather read than do anything else. She still uses the sideward gaze, but she has adjusted well. She still has a vision specialist following her in school, but only for needed modifications. She tires faster than her peers as far as eye strain. The modifications are large print books, graph paper for adding and subtracting math, bold line paper, NCR paper for note taking (another student will take note for her and give her the copy, this does not keep her from trying to take notes on her own), she gets unlimited time on test, she does not have to fill in scantrons, and she does not copy off the board or overhead projectors. She has really adjusted well. She is a very outgoing child with a lot of personality. This summer she is a teacher aide at the summer school program of a local school. Her balance is off. She can not ride a bike or skate, but she still trys. She use to fall a lot and run into things, but she is learning to be more aware. I hope this helps. Vhonda
