I am the mother of two children with OMA my son is 21 years old and my daughter is 17 years old. My son is the father to a 2 year old girl also with OMA. My children have always scored very highly in the 95-99% range on school testing except in the reading comprehenxion part. They excel in math. we weren't able to pin point the problem until my son said "Reading is a back and forth thing, its hard for me to do. Sometimes I get lost and then I get frustrated, and forget what I'm reading." Books on tape is agreat learning tool, and my children are definitely hands on learners. This is the exact same answer I got from my daughter who is struggeling daily with this problem to finish high school. I expect to hear this from my grandaughter also when she learns to read. Thanks to our Early Intervention program, who are so willing to seek out info on this affliction, Heaven is getting individualized instruction in eye hand and gross motor and is improving there has also been notice able improvement in her balance although I do recommend a light helmet of some type for these children at the toddler stage because they are always running into doors, door jams, and tripping because they can't get their eyes around fast enough. I have never had or been asked by any professional who was familier with this if my children also have any other abnormalities.
