Re: organizing msg board with special catagories

Hi Rob and everyone out there who reads and participates on our wonderful website.

I have had some discussions with Rob about setting the message board up with some more specific discussion categories. The site has grown so much since we first started out and the categories may now be too broad. I know I have tried to search for certain subjects and it is very time consuming (even with the new search engine).
I believe by doing this the discussions will have more direction and may even encourage more people to participate.

Some of the categories we came up with were -
Education/schooling
Speech
Gross/fine motor development (including hypotonia)
Nutrition and Diet
Genetics
Personal stories to tell
kids zone - for the older children/teenagers to be able to talk with others with oma - no adults.

The following is a rough draft Rob did
---- Draft -------

EDUCATION/SCHOOLING

This specialist section has been started up to group together any messages on the subject of education/schooling.

Topics could include -
- ideas/therapies regarding reading, writing, and speech.
- ways to improve the classroom setting
- stories to tell
- funding(please note this is very dependant on state/region/provence/country, so please indicate to which area your comments apply)

-----end--------

These categories would be added to the message board and you would just add your messages as normal under the category it was relevant to. We may choose to organise those existing message catagories a bit differently as well.

These are just some ideas and we would welcome any suggestions from the community. PLEASE KEEP IT SHORE AND DIRECT - MAYBE IN POINT FORM so we can keep tally of what people would like to see happen a little easier.

Another suggestion from Rob was we have a FAQ - frequently asked questions file on questions and contributions that keep on coming up in discussion. This is often done by people who sometimes volunteer to compile a FAQ file on a particular area of interest to them EG genetics? Rob would know more about how this would work but it would mean a little bit of work from those that did volunteer.
This may be where reorganising the existing message catergories comes into it, as they may be absorbed into a FAQ file.

Well thats is so PLEASE contribute and let everyone know what you would like to see added to the msg board ... even if you don't add many messages but read them there must be some suggestions you would like to make
- the more people who have a say the better...

kind regards

Dawn Jimenez

PS Rob sorry this took me so long since I last spoke with you but school holidays here before and over Easter, and then our computer when on the blink... bye
