Is there a place to look here for info on federal aid (if any)?

We are concerned with an 11 year old child with apraxia problems - both visual and walking. She does not speak.
Is there a place on this or other internet (bulletin board?) places to read about possible financial aid from federal, state or charitable sources ??
I realize that medical aid is more directly helpful, but the mother in this instance has very little money and seems uninformed (or maybe shy or embarassed) on how/where to get help.
