I have a 5 year old son that was diag. with OMA when he was 6 months old. He's very intelligent kid, with an imagination that is out of this world and I have noticed that they older he gets and the more he learns, the less we notice the OMA. I've been reading some replies and I noticed that a lot of people have said that their OMA child has speech problems. I was wondering if you could share with me what type of speech problems they have, to what extent and what you are doing about it. Tristan studders off and on, and sounds like he may have a slight lisp. It seems like when he KNOWS what he is going to say, he doesn't studder, but if he is "pretending" or making it up as he goes, it comes through. He starts a sentence...then goes back over the sentence until he figures out what he wants to say and sometimes this can happen 4 or 5 times of repeating. He did go through a time when he had a hard time finishing his words, like the word words...for example, he would say wordsssssssss, and seem to not know when to cut off the "S". I would really appreciate your input on this. Thank you.
