My 9 year old daughter has been diagnosed with Ocular Motor Dysfunction and is undergoing vision therapy. I noticed there was a problem when she was 7 years old. I had a hard time convincing others (teachers and family members) that there was something wrong. Finally I read a book on Dyslexia and that sent me on a search for help from professionals. Since she started her therapy we have seen some improvement, but I am having problems with her elementary school. They are wanting to put her back a grade instead of accommodating her. She does read on a lower reading level and has problems with spelling, but her comprehension and cognitive scores are above average. But I am strong minded and will stand my ground on this one. My medical doctor also strongly voiced his opinion concerning vision therapy, but I chose to give the therapy a chance. Trying is better than doing nothing at all.
