Hi,
I am a mother of a highly complex 17 year old, who is presently experiencing difficulties very much like he did when he was going through the Terrible Twos.
He was diagnosed with Lateral Nystagmus, a disorder wherein he cannot stop his eye meovement thus reducing his acuity dramatically.
Lately, I have been told about Aspberger syndrome.
I always have had difficulty with him and had wondered if he was autistic in his early years.
Having learned of Aspberger syndrome, and, seeing discovering this site, I wonder if the two i.e. the vision and behaviour are related.
To describe his behaviour:
- does not see and accept the correlation between behaviour and consequence
- never accepts advice/ has to learn the hard way
- always seems miserable and complaining
- tone of voice and language is offensive and abusive
- does not learn regardless of rules and structure
- has difficulty communicating feelings
- very angry boy

Has any one else experienced this?
I worry about his future. Will he be able to function independently and live a happy fulfilling life?
What else can I do for him?
