Rencie,
I am in the same shoes as you. My son was diagnosed with COMA at 8 months old. He is now 13 months old. He has been getting PT, Teacher for about 6 months and OT for about 2 months. He is coming along but slowly. He sits unsupported started at about 10 months and just started bearing weight on his legs about 2-3 weeks ago, however he does not bear weight for a long time about 1-3 mins. The therapy is the best thing we could have started him with. We get early intervention through our county. I am very scared for my little boy. This is our first child and makes us aware that you never know what may happen. For 9 months I carried a perfect baby, to find out that he may have a lifetime of difficulties. He will always be perfect in our eyes. He is the world to us and could not imagine life without him. He is such a good baby and has always been. The optomologist said that he has a mild case of OMA and is getting better as time goes on it just seems like forever to he does one little thing. He also has some sensory problems that now that we are getting these issues worked out he is getting so much better. This is probably not much help but since your son is so close to ours in age I thought that I can email you and let you know that you are not alone and would love to keep in touch with you and your sons progress. Hang in there it gets better. If you would like to send your email address to me I can email you. Take care and remember that your son is a gift and no matter what he can and can't do he will always be your son and you will love him for what he can do. I always tell myself it could be worse.
