I have not met many people with the same diagnosis and have just had eye surgery to try to correct. While looking for more information on the internet I found your letter. I was diagnosed at 9 mos and have always been taught to turn my head also. Most people that I know do not recognize that I have a problem and that makes me feel good but I am a teacher and have found on many, many occasions that the kids (and other adults in different situations) have a hard time determining where I am looking due to the tilt of my head. This prompted me to go ahead with the surgery. My doctor moved the inner muscle of my left eye back and I cannot believe the results!! My eye is now straight and I can look at someone without tilting my head!! I cannot move my eye to the left still but it is not turned in like it used to be. Other that some strain on my eye and my neck muscles being really sore (since for the past 33 years I have turned my head and now have to hold it straight) I am very happy with the results. I was very comfortable with the way I looked and tell my kids I am unique but I am also very happy that I did it! I just had to respond to your email b/c it is very rare to meet someone with this same problem!!!
